Comment Print
Heidenheim, Germany, 14 December 2007 -- West Coast Paper Mills Ltd., which belongs to the S.K. Bangur Group, has ordered a new production line for high-quality writing, printing, and copy grades from Voith Paper. The start up for this production line is planned for May of 2009.

The new paper machine, with a wire width of 5850 mm, will be delivered to Dandeli, India, approximately 650 km southeast of Mumbai. The primary raw material will be pulp produced in their own mill.

With an operating speed of 1200 m/min, PM 6 will produce paper in a basis weight range of 45 to 90 g/m² with an annual production capacity of approximately 130,000 metric tons.

The delivery includes a MasterJet headbox with ModuleJet dilution water control and a fourdrinier wire with DuoFormer D. The press section will have a Tandem NipcoFlex shoe press with QualiFlex press sleeves. The symmetric dewatering in the double-felted nip will produce an even sheet structure on both sides.

Ordered equipment includes a Combi DuoRun dryer section with ProRelease and Duo stabilizers, EcoSoft calender, MasterReel, and VariFlex winder. West Coast Paper Mills Ltd. also ordered a complete Advanced Wet End Process, including ComMix and HydroMix technology, EcoMizer Cleaner, and MSA approach flow screening. A new generation of CompactPulpers will be installed in the broke system and low-wear bagless Voith Disc Filters will be installed for fiber recovery.

The stock preparation for both hardwood and softwood is also part of the delivery. For the primary stock, a pulper with a subsequent HCC high consistency cleaner system will be installed for the preparation of softwood pulp. Both lines are equipped with TwinFlow Double Disc Refiners.

Voith will also deliver the complete machine control system and process control technology with OnControl, as well as an OnQuality quality control system. Two OnQ measuring frames with sensors, the OnQ GradeControl MD controls and the OnQ CD controls ensure the highest paper quality. These include the OnQ ModuleJet dilution water technology for basis weight control and the OnQ ModuleTherm system for realizing the best thickness profile on the calender. The automation package includes an OnView information system, with which all machine, process, and quality data can be collected, archived, and analyzed.

The scope of supply also includes PM accessories such as the hood, mechanical drive, and central lubrication. The complete production line engineering and supervision of installation and start up round off Voith’s delivery.

Voith Paper is a division of Voith and one of the leading partners to the paper industry. More than a third of worldwide paper production is produced on Voith Paper machines. Founded on 01 January 1867, the company has a current workforce of 37,000, sales of EUR 4 billion, and over 270 locations worldwide.
