Voith Paper Commissioned by Julius Schulte for Paper Mill Wastewater Treatment Project

Heidenheim, Germany, 29 October 2008 -- Julius Schulte in Trebsen, Germany, has commissioned Voith Paper to deliver and install a new R2S anaerobic reactor. Until start-up of this new anaerobic reactor, the R2S pilot unit is helping to bridge the capacity bottleneck in wastewater treatment.

The Julius Schulte paper mill is carrying out an expansion of existing wastewater treatment at the Trebsen location. Voith Paper received the order for delivery and installation of an R2S anaerobic reactor; start-up is planned for the end of this year. It will replace the existing UASB reactor and is designed to be able to process the accumulation of wastewater to be expected within the framework of further plant development. The R2S pilot unit is used parallel to the existing UASB reactor to eliminate the present capacity bottleneck in wastewater treatment.

At the Trebsen location, the Julius Schulte paper mill produces corrugating media and test liner with basis weights between 100 and 280 g/m². The new Voith R2S anaerobic reactor will have a diameter of 5.90 m and an overall height of 30 m. An hourly process effluent flow of 160 m³ and a chemical oxygen demand (COD) load of up to 22.5 tons per day can thus be dealt with.
