Vaahto Pulp & Paper Machinery Receives Technology Orders From Union Paper Mills and Asia Paper
Comment Print

Lahti, Finland, 23 February 2011 -- Vaahto Pulp & Paper Machinery has received orders from Union Paper Mills in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Asia Paper in Korea.

Union Paper Mills placed an order for novelty spray-technology, runability components, starch make-down expansion, and general revamping of its PM2 to produce improved testliner. PM2's paper width at the reel is 3744 mm and the design speed after the rebuild will be up to 600 m/min.

Spray-sizing technology has been developed in close cooperation with German VIB GmbH, which will supply the spray-booms for the system. Before this delivery, VIB tested its system in various pilot applications and at an industrial mill-scale operation. The advantage of Vaahto VIB spraying technology is the high solid content of the starch used, resulting in significant savings in energy consumption. In Dubai, Union Paper Mills can run the machine with 150 m/min higher speed than with traditional pond-sizing equipment.

In starch preparation, Vaahto has been teaming up with a fresh Finnish company, Adpap. The knowledgeable team based in Turku, has within a short period proven to be an agile partner for Vaahto Pulp & Paper machinery in rebuild projects.

Equipment will be shipped in the middle of the summer 2011 to meet the annual shutdown of early August of Dubai mill site.

The Korean order from Asia Paper for its Chungwon PM3 is a dilution control retrofit for a Finnish-made headbox. Improved CD profiles and better runnability can be achieved with the upgrade, which will materialize in August 2011.

Orders are valued together at almost EUR 3 million.

Vaahto Group is a globally operating high technology company serving process industry in the fields of pulp and paper machinery and process machinery.
