Washington, DC, USA, 13 June 2007 -- /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a USD 197,925 grant to assist approximately 50 Oregon workers affected by the closure of the Weyerhaeuser Co.'s Bauman Plywood and Planer site located in Lebanon, Oregon.

On 31 January, Weyerhaeuser announced that it would permanently close the Lebanon facility as of 30 March. The state conducted Rapid Response activities immediately following the announcement to inform affected workers of the services available to assist them as they prepare for new employment.

The grant, awarded to the Oregon Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development, will provide affected workers with an array of re-employment services, including assessment, individual counseling, case management, and career and occupational training.
