The Final Word by Jim Thompson

We’ll talk more about it in other times and other places, but here at Paperitalo Publications, we are beginning to view the energy issue as one of the past.   The widespread discovery of natural gas, nearly worldwide, has given those crying energy crisis a new set of problems.  Natural gas is now so cheap that its extraction is being delayed in places awaiting price increases.

Now, nothing lasts forever, and energy prices will change and swap places again in the future, but credible sources are saying this is likely at least forty years away.  This makes the current energy problems relatively minor, even for professionals just starting their careers.  This also allows time to solve a more pressing societal problem—clean drinking water for everyone on the planet.  The pulp and paper industry has a chance to take a lead in this area.  It is time we stepped up and not squandered this opportunity to be a very positive force for humankind.
