SP Fiber Technologies Announces Exit of Newsprint

Newberg, Oregon, USA 13 January 2014 — SP Fiber Technologies, LLC (SPFT) announced today plans to convert a newsprint machine at the company’s Newberg, Oregon paper mill to lightweight packaging products. PM5 will cease production of newsprint on January 15th allow for necessary process modifications. The conversion is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year.

SPFT will continue providing high quality, recycled content newsprint for the west coast market from PM6.

“This project reflects the strategy to grow our packaging business while remaining a preferred newsprint supplier in the West. Newberg is a solid asset with great people. We are very excited about this expansion of our packaging business in the West.” said Allen Byrd, CEO.
