Skoghall Mill to Return to Full Production
Print

Helsinki, Finland 30 January 2014 -- The Stora Enso cartonboard mill in Skoghall will return to full production in February. Due to the explosion of the recovery boiler, CKB production has been running at a reduced level. Production loss is estimated to be about 1,000 t per day.

After an explosion of the recovery boiler on 21 January, the production of NBSK pulp had to be stopped. Due to limitations in steam production and pulp, the two board machines KM7 and KM8 only run alternately at the moment. The root cause of the explosion has been identified as water coming into the boiler.

Stora Enso plans to start up the recovery boiler on 8 February and to ramp up production of both board machines from 9 to 11 February.

According to estimates, production of CKB in Skoghall is being reduced by 1,000 t per day at the moment, which will sum up to a production loss of at least 21,000 t for the whole period of reduced production.
