Orchids Paper Moving Headquarters to Tennessee

Brentwood, Tennessee, USA 08 March 2017 -- (From the Nashville Business Journal) -- A publicly traded company that makes toilet paper, napkins and paper towels has emerged as the latest business to plant its headquarters in the Nashville area.

Orchids Paper Products Co. announced Tuesday that it is moving its headquarters from outside Tulsa, Okla., bringing up to 25 jobs to office space at the southern edge of Davidson County.

"We expect the convenient location of our new office and the desirability of Williamson County as a place to live and work to help us attract and retain talent," said Jeff Schoen, president and CEO of Orchids Paper, in a news release. "Our new offices provide room for growth and are conveniently located close to key customers. Additionally, the Nashville area is centrally located between our principal production facilities in other states and therefore will serve as a hub for our operations."

The company is leasing 6,700 square feet of renovated space in the building at 201 Summit View Drive, which has a Brentwood mailing address but is located within Davidson County. The address puts Orchid Papers in a central location to downtown and also the Cool Springs commercial hub in Williamson County, the heart of a county that is growing faster than anywhere in the state and adding jobs faster than anywhere in the nation.

The 19-year-old company, which has its own brands and also makes private-label products, reported net sales of $164.5 million in 2016 and net income of $12.8 million. Those results are down 4 percent to 5 percent from 2015's business. In an earnings call, Schoen cited "intense competitive pressures ... that did not abate" while also noting newly won business that he said will "lead us to remain optimistic about our ability to achieve our goal to grow Orchids' annual earnings per share."

Orchids Paper has mills and facilities in Oklahoma and South Carolina.
