Munksjö Rottersac Restarts After Ten-day Standstill
Print

Helsinki, Finland 18 January 2017 -- Production is running again at Munksjö's specialty paper mill in France. Employees had downed tools for ten days.

The employees at Munksjö's specialty paper mill Rottersac in France are back to work. The Filpac CGT union reported that after a strike of ten days starting on 2 January operations were started again on 12 January. Munksjö confirmed the strike action and said that production was completely down during that time.

The employees protested against the layoff of an employee. In the view of the union, this measure was unjustified while Munksjö stated the dismissal was due to violation of safety rules. The parties now reached an agreement. The employee was not reintegrated but will receive financial support for vocational integration, according to Filpac CGT. In addition, several measures were decided to improve the social dialogue between labour and management.

The Rottersac facility in Lalinde near Bordeaux produces paper for flexible packaging, self-adhesive notes, envelope windows, and industrial application. Munksjö puts the annual capacity of the site at 65,000 t. Rottersac operates two paper machines and has approximately 200 employees.
