Comment Print
Helsinki, Finland, 18 June 2008 -- Metso Paper will supply a new fiber line to Century Pulp and Paper’s integrated pulp and paper mill in Uttaranchal state in northern India. The line is scheduled to start up at the end of 2009. The value of the order is close to EUR 23 million.

The scope of the delivery comprises cooking, screening, washing, oxygen stages, and an elemental chlorine-free bleaching plant. Wash presses will be installed at each stage of washing of both brown stock and bleached pulps. The order also includes basic engineering, valves, special instruments, instrumentation, project execution, erection, and start-up supervision services. Metso Automation will supply distributed control system for the cooking plant and the fiber line.

The new fiber line is designed for a daily capacity of 450 oven-dry metric tons of bleached pulp, which will be made from eucalyptus and mixed Indian hardwood. The new line will replace two smaller fiber lines and increase the pulp production. It will supply pulp to the company’s newly invested tissue line, also supplied by Metso Paper.

Century Pulp and Paper, a division of Century Textile and Industries Ltd, is a manufacturer of rayon grade pulp and writing and printing paper. Century has an annual total capacity of approximately 360,000 metric tons of mixed hardwood pulp, 85,000 metric tons of bagasse pulp, and 31,000 metric tons of nitrocellulose.

Metso is a global engineering and technology corporation with 2007 net sales of over EUR 6 billion. It has more than 27,000 employees in approximately 50 countries and serves customers in the pulp and paper industry, rock and minerals processing, the energy industry, and selected other industries.
