Metso to Supply a Tissue Line to Syktyvkar Tissue Group, Russia

Helsinki, Finland, 10 October 2006 -- Metso Paper will supply a complete tissue production line to Syktyvkar Tissue Group Ltd. The line is scheduled to start up at their Syktyvkar mill in the Republic of Komi, Russia, during autumn 2007. The value of the order is not disclosed. The order is included in Metso's third quarter order backlog.

The Metso delivery comprises a complete tissue production line with stock preparation equipment and an Advantage DCT 100 tissue machine. The 2.7-meter-wide tissue machine has a design speed of 1600 m/min and a daily production of 60-90 metric tons of tissue. The order also comprises quality control and distributed control systems by Metso Automation. The value of an order like this is in the range of EUR 10-15 million.

This is the 9th Advantage DCT 100 tissue machine sold by Metso Paper after the Advantage DCT concept was launched in December 2005.

The tissue industry in Syktyvkar, since 2003 operated by Syktyvkar Tissue Group, has been present in the paper and tissue business for more than 20 years. Employing 230 people, the company today produces 17,500 metric tons of tissue annually.
