Graphic Packaging to Close Another Folding Carton Facility

Piscataway, New Jersey, USA 31 May 2016 -- (From NJBIZ) -- A global packaging company is closing its Piscataway folding carton facility, leaving 117 workers without jobs.

Graphic Packaging's Sue Appleyard, senior manager of corporate communications, told NJBIZ the manufacturing of the paperboard products for food and beverage companies was being transferred to other plants within the U.S.

According to a WARN notice filed with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the jobs will be cut as of July 16. Positions eliminated include cutting and press operators, as well as inspectors, laborers and others.

"This decision was reached after a thorough assessment of the site's manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, and in no way reflects on the hard work and dedication of the employees," Appleyard said.
