Alberta, Canada 13 July 2015 -- (From the Alberta Daily Herald Tribune) -- A blaze at Weyerhaeuser caused limited damage to some machinery early Sunday morning.

At approximately 1 a.m. on 12 July 2015, County of Grande Prairie firefighters from the Clairmont, Dunes and Bezanson fire stations, as well as the Town of Sexsmith, responded to a fire in the sawmill area of the Weyerhaeuser mill, 10 kilometres south of Grande Prairie on Resources Road.

The firefighters extinguished the blaze by 5 a.m. According to Wayne Roznowsky, public affairs manager for Weyerhaeuser, the fire did not result in any structural damage.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was spotted by employees during a maintenance shift, which is done every weekend when mill operations are shut down for clean-up work. A trained Weyerhaeuser crew initially tried to put out the fire before calling for help from the county.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and Roznowsky said Weyerhaeuser expected operations in the mill to be running by Monday.
