Fedrigoni Mill in Verona Resumes Production

Verona, Italy 09 September 2015 -- Two months after it was hit by a fire, Fedrigoni's production and converting facility in Verona is producing paper again.

Paper manufacturing operations had been standing idle at Fedrigoni's production and converting site in Verona, Italy, since a fire on 2 July. Last Monday, the company finally succeeded in bringing part of the paper production back online. One of two paper machines at the site resumed operations in the morning of 7 September. The second machine is slated to begin production again in the next ten days, a company spokesperson told EUWID.

Italy's graphic and specialty paper manufacturers Fedrigoni employs 270 staff and makes woodfree uncoated and specialty papers at two paper machines in Verona. The group originally thought that the extent of damage caused by the 2 July blaze was smaller and anticipated that it would succeed in cleaning up the site and resuming paper production within 30 days of the fire.

Converting and finishing activities had been resumed a couple of days after the fire incident at the Verona mill. At that time Fedrigoni explained, it would raise output at other paper mills of the group to offset the shortfall in Verona and minimise the knock-on effects for its customers.
