Oyonnas, Ain, France 13 August 2015 -- A fire prevented Emin-Leydier from restarting production at its recycled containerboard mill Nogent-sue-Seine which was down for maintenance. The company now expects to resume operations on 17 August.

A fire broke out at the recycled corrugated case material mill Nogent-sur-Seine of French paper producer Emin-Leydier on 8 August. Production is currently down at the site and is expected to be resumed on 17 August, says a company spokesman.

The Nogent-sur-Seine site had already been standing still for maintenance work when the fire broke out. Production was down from 4 August and should have been resumed on 12 August, the company reports.

According to the spokesman, the mill's transformer was damaged in the blaze and has to be replaced. Cleaning up operations were ongoing, he said, adding that no temporary layoffs had been implemented.

The Nogent-sur-Seine mill produces recycled corrugated case material on one machine which offers a capacity of 250,000-300,000 t. Production lastly stood at around 250,000 t, said the spokesman. The company runs another paper mill in Champblain-Laveyron with two containerboard machines. The company's total recycled containerboard production capacity amounts to around 750,000 tpy.
