DS Smith to Raise Recycled Containerboard Output


London, England 18 March 2016 -- A new pulper is to be installed at the Aschaffenburg mill to increase recycled fibre stock-preparation capacity and equip the facility for higher paper output.

Paper and packaging company DS Smith is going to increase production capacity for recycled corrugated case material at the German site in Aschaffenburg. Following the installation of a new pulper and feeding belt in the mill's stock preparation unit, production capacity is expected to increase by 30,000 tpy when calculated on the current product mix of leight weight and standard papers.

DS Smith Aschaffenburg runs one paper machine and produces currently about 400,000 tpy of recycled fluting and testliner in basic weights of 80-120 g/m². The new capacity will be available as of January next year, according to the company. Modernisation of the stock preparation unit is scheduled to begin this May.
