Domsjö Halts Production at Dissolving Pulp Mill

Domsjo, Sweden 03 August 2017 -- An incident at the mill premises forced Domsjö Fabriker to stop production at its dissolving pulp mill. Production is expected to be down for one week.

Swedish company Domsjö Fabriker was forced to halt production at its dissolving pulp mill on 30 July. A company spokeswoman told EUWID that following the undermining of a riverbank next to the mill, a landslip had occurred creating a huge hole at the mill premises. This did not cause any damage to the mill but in order to carry out repair work, the mill had to shut down operations, said the spokeswoman. It would take about a week before the mill will be back in operation, she added.

Domsjö Fabriker's capacities for dissolving pulp at the mill amount to 230,000 tpy. The company can also produce up to 120,000 tpy of lignin and up to 17,000 tpy of bio-ethanol. The compay employs about 400 people.
