In this issue of Disconnected Comparisons, we evaluate Sonoco Products Company (SON) and Aracruz Celulose SA (ARA). The attached graph indexes these companies’ stock values and the PM40 to their 04 January 2002 values. A USD 100 investment in SON on that date would have been worth USD 82.15 on 23 January 2009; a USD 100 investment in ARA on 04 January 2002 would have been worth USD 48.15 on 23 January 2009; and a USD 100 investment in an equal weight of the PM40 on 04 January 2002 would have been worth 64.71 USD on 23 January 2009.
