Cartiera San Lorenzo Suspends Production After Fire
Print

Gassano, Italy 08 March 2017 -- Local media say it could take up to two months time to restart tissue production.

A fire broke out at the Italian tissue paper mill Cartiera San Lorenzo last week, bearing considerable consequences for the operation of the facility. A spokesperson for the paper mill confirmed that production was at a standstill at present but did not wish to comment on the potential duration of the downtime.

According to local newspapers, the fire caused roughly €1.5m worth of damage and it would take at least two months for the mill to restart operations.

The fire service reported that the blaze broke out in the electrical system where the installation of a new turbine was underway and from where it quickly spread to other areas. No-one was injured in the fire.
