Albany International Plans Closure of Door Manufacturing Facility
Print
Albany, New York, New York, 07 May 2007 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Albany Door Systems AB, a company of Albany International Corp. (NYSE:AIN), announced today its plan to discontinue operations at its door manufacturing facility in Halmstad, Sweden, in an effort to match installed capacity with business demands. In recent years, door businesses in Europe and elsewhere have consolidated in a similar process.

The proposal is subject to review under local law. It would be implemented in accordance with such law and in consultation with the Works Councils and Trade Unions.

The planned action in no way reflects on the fine performance of the affected employees; it is a business necessity, driven by the existing and anticipated market conditions.

Should this plan be implemented, customer support functions including sales and service would continue to be located in the region. Technical and manufacturing personnel would ensure continuity of customer supply by overseeing the transition of door production to the other Albany door facility in Europe.

Albany International is the world's largest producer of custom-designed paper machine fabrics and process belts that are essential to the manufacture of paper and paperboard. In its family of businesses, Albany applies its core competencies in advanced textiles and materials to other industries including high-performance doors. Additional information about the company and its businesses and products is available at www.albint.com.
